“Not a Shame” Campaign
Tadwein for Gender Studies in collaboration with the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, and the Cairo Foundation for Development and Law has launched an electronic campaign during 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. The campaign aimed to emphasize the importance of comprehensive sex education as a way to solve the many problems related to sexual and reproductive health, and it used the hashtag #Not_a_shame to eradicate the stigma related to sex education in Egypt.
The campaign included the posting of several short videos on HIV/AIDS, which is transmitted through sexual contact, intimate partner violence (IPV), and gender-based violence (GBV).
Tadwein announced the start of this campaign at the “Safety in Home for Safety in the World; Making Education Safe for All” conference on the Greek campus at AUC. A series of events were held during this period with target groups to address issues of domestic violence and violence against vulnerable groups. The most prominent was the conference held by Tadwein for Gender Studies titled “Sexual Education for Youth and Marginalized Groups: Innovative Solutions”.
A press release was issued to launch the campaign on December 15 2015
