The Impact of Child Marriage on Young Egyptian Girls

Tadwein for Gender Studies has also exerted tremendous efforts to combat child marriage in Egypt.  Efforts to combat child marriage were with the aim to raise awareness of the community about the harmful impacts of child marriages on the lives of young girls in urban greater Cairo and rural areas in Fayoum. Through this project, Tadwein for Gender Studies was able to provide Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) with a greater understanding of the risks of child marriage and gender-based violence (GBV) and provide a series of awareness workshops for 120 married couples and underage unmarried girls in Fayoum and Greater Cairo. As a result of these activities, Tadwein for Gender Studies was able to launch an online awareness campaign #Her dream is more important to advocate against the practice of child marriage and developed a study report on the consequences of child marriage.
