Innovative Approaches to Combat Gender-Based Violence Conference

Tadwein for Gender Studies organized a conference titled “Innovative Approaches to Combat Gender-Based Violence”. The aim of the conference was to reflect on the journey and success of El-Madrasa project as an innovative approach to combat gender-based violence in Egypt.

Training of Trainers on FGM and Child Marriage Messages

On the 9th and 10th of September 2023, Tadwein for Gender Studies organized a training for 10 females and 10 males in Fayoum governorate, Sinnuris Center. The aim of the training was to enhance the capabilities of these participants to better develop messages to combat the practice of both FGM and child marriage in Egypt. The training is expected to assist community members in conducting awareness sessions within their local communities.

Ending Violence Against Girls and Women

Communication Skills Training for CBOs

On the 29th of August 2023, Tadwein for Gender Studies organized a one-day training for 15 participants from 2 CBOs in the Qalioubiya governorate. The training aimed to enhance the communication skills of the participants who were previously trained in the development of advocacy messages for combating both FGM and child marriage. The training is expected to assist members of these CBOs in conducting awareness sessions within their local communities

Digital Media Training for Feminist Initiatives

Tadwein for Gender Studies coordinated training on “Digital Media” for 13 feminist initiatives (from 8 Governorates) that are partners in the Feminist Fabric Project.  The training was conducted from the 20th to the 22nd of July 2023 with the aim of enhancing the capacities of these initiatives on digital media and also introducing and training the participants on the digital media tools that can be used in the context of their feminist activities.

Gender Equality Training: Participants’ Second Meeting

On the 19th of July 2023, Tadwein for Gender Studies organized a meeting with a second cohort of participants of the “Gender Equality” Training. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the participant’s action plans that shall be implemented within the participant’s communities.

The Digital Security Training for Feminist Initiatives

On June 18th, 2023, Tadwein for Gender Studies organized training on digital security for 12 feminist initiatives that are part of the “Feminist Fabric” project. These initiatives were from 8 different Egyptian governorates. The training focused on enhancing the capabilities of these initiatives in areas such as digital risk assessment, data protection, device security, electronic account closure, and communication privacy.

Proposal Writing Training for Feminist Initiatives

Tadwein for Gender Studies has organized a proposal writing training for 15 feminist initiatives that are part of the “Feminist Fabric” Project. These initiatives were from 9 different Egyptian Governorates. The workshop was conducted between the 15th and the 17th of June 2023. The objective was to enhance the capabilities of these initiatives in the development and writing of project proposals.

Celebration of launching a partnership between Tadwein for Gender Studies and Shemsi Company

On the 14th of June 2023, Tadwein for Gender Studies celebrated launching its new partnership with Shemsi Company at the American University in Cairo. Shemsi is the first trademark to produce and sell period underwear in Egypt. The aim of this partnership is to foster efforts to eliminate period poverty, fight stigma, and break the stereotypes related to menstruation in Egypt. The event was attended by many representatives from non-governmental organizations, feminist initiatives, international bodies, local community leaders, some journalists, and donors.

As part of the commitment to breaking stereotypes and fighting stigma related to the #Menstrual cycle, Tadwein for Gender Studies launched a new campaign # It’s not a shame during International Menstrual Hygiene Day.

On the 28th of May and in accordance with the International Menstrual Hygiene Day, Tadwein for Gender Studies launched a new partnership with Shemsi, the first brand in Egypt to manufacture and sell menstrual underwear “Period Underwear”.
