Introduction
Tadwein for Gender Studies organized health caravans in several governorates aimed to raise awareness about female genital mutilation. The caravans were usually accompanied by the provision of several medical examinations and laboratory investigations. These included testing of blood sugars, blood pressure measurements, examination of osteoporosis, eye screenings, and early detection of breast cancer. Health Caravans were conducted in 3 governorates.
Fayoum Governorate: Sinnuris Center- Tersa Village
On July 18, 2023, a medical caravan was conducted in collaboration with the Young Graduates Association in the village of Tersa, in the Sinnuris Center; Fayoum Governorate. Community members from different social and age groups benefited from the awareness sessions and medical services provided by the caravan. A total of 240 individuals were reached.
Al Qalyubia Governorate: Aghour as Sughra
On the 18th of February 2023, a medical caravan was conducted in collaboration with “The Youth Association for Community Development in the village of Aghour as Sughra in “Al Qanater Al Khayreya” in Al Qalyubia Governorate”. Community members from different social and age groups benefited from the awareness sessions and medical services provided by the caravan. A total of 275 individuals were reached.
Giza Governorate: Zawyet Dahshour
On the 26th of December 2022, a medical caravan was conducted in collaboration with the “Happy Future” Organization in “Zawyet Dahshour” in Giza Governorates. Community members from different social and age groups benefited from the awareness sessions and medical services provided by the caravan. A total of 250 individuals were reached.

On the 4th of August 2022, a medical caravan was conducted in collaboration with the “Happy Future” Organization in “Zawyet Dahshour” in Giza Governorates. Community members from different social and age groups benefited from the awareness sessions and medical services provided by the caravan. A total of 250 individuals were reached.
Al Qalyubia Governorate: Kafr Aboul Gheit
On the 13th of June 2022, a medical caravan was conducted in collaboration with the Youth Association for Local Community Development in Kafr Aboul Gheit, Al Qanater Charity Center. Community members from different social and age groups benefited from the awareness sessions and medical services provided by the caravan. A total of 223 individuals were reached.
Giza Governorate: Sakiet Makki
On the 18th of February 2022, a medical caravan was conducted in collaboration with the Federation of Medical Students in Egypt, IFMSA-EGYPT, and two local CBOs, namely the ‘Specific Union to Combat Harmful Practices’ and the ‘Hard Work Association’. The caravan was conducted in the Sakiet Makki area, Giza governorate. Community members from different social and age groups benefited from the awareness sessions and medical services provided by the caravan. A total of 270 individuals were reached.
