“Killed Because They Were Women” Booklet

This booklet contains illustrations developed as part of the campaign “Killed Because They Were Women” which was launched by Tadwein for Gender Studies to shed light on the increasing incidences of femicide in Egypt. The stories in this booklet were inspired by the stories collected between October 2021 and October 2022.

دراسة قتلن لأنهن نساء

تسعى هذه الدراسة لتسليط الضوء على حجم انتشار حوادث قتل وانتحار النساء أو   في الفتيات في المجتمع المصري، وذلك من خلال رصد وتحليل الحالات المنشورة في الأخبار الصحفية خلال العام السابق على إجراء الدراسة الذي يبدأ في أكتوبر 2021 وينتهي في أكتوبر 2022. واعتمدت هذه الدراسة على أسلوب المسح الشامل لحوادث قتل النساء أو الفتيات في مصر المنشورة عبر الانترنت.

Fostering Collaborating and Accelerating Efforts to End Gender-Based Violence in Egypt Conference

In accordance with the 16 Days of Activism Against GBV, Tadwein for Gender Studies organized a national conference titled “Fostering Collaborating and Accelerating Efforts to End Gender-Based Violence in Egypt”. The conference was held on the 7th of December, 2022. During this conference, Tadwein for Gender Studies took the opportunity to also launch and disseminate a new study about femicide in Egypt titled “Killed Because They are Women”. More than 80 people participated in the conference, representing women’s and human rights organizations, civil societies, women’s and youth initiatives, and some funding agencies.
