The Tadween Center for Gender Studies was established in 2016 with the aim of spreading evidence-based awareness about gender issues, implementing projects, formulating policies and taking the necessary actions to enhance the status of women in Egyptian society and reduce violence against women and girls in general.
Our mission
Our vision
The Tadween Center for Gender Studies was established in June 2016 to disseminate evidence-based knowledge on gender issues and to implement and promote programs, policies, and actions aimed at enhancing the status of women in Egyptian society and reducing violence against women and girls. The Tadween Center also works to bridge the gap between research and practice through effective and innovative interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure more effective approaches to eliminating gender-based violence and discrimination.
The Tadween Center for Gender Studies strives to effect change that promotes gender equality throughout Egyptian society, because improving the status of women and girls is central to effective development. Women and girls often face gender-based discrimination that puts them at risk of increased poverty, poor education, disease, and violence. Therefore, investing in their health, education, economic roles, and political participation will improve women’s lives and benefit individuals and society as a whole.
Our goals
Conducting field research to obtain evidence-based data to raise awareness of gender issues, as well as formulating policies, generating impactful messages, and supporting relevant programs.
Encouraging cooperation and networking between local NGOs and initiatives working on similar issues to ensure effectiveness and sustainability.
Documenting and analyzing women’s stories and testimonies about violence and sexual assault in the public and private spheres.
Using advocacy and lobbying tactics to encourage and attract males (men, youth, adolescents) to stop violence against women, and to build their capacity to work to reduce violence and gender discrimination.
Using technology in planning awareness campaigns to reach different social groups with a focus on youth.
